The series will begin in 2026 with Superman, presented in partnership with the Cleveland Film Commission. This kickoff event will celebrate Stark County’s role in contemporary filmmaking while bringing industry leaders to Canton for a panel discussion and Q&A.

In March 2026, during Women’s History Month, Stark on Screen will feature The Golden Key by Massillon-born filmmaker and photographer Nell Dorr. Presented in collaboration with the Massillon Museum, this event will honor Dorr’s legacy and highlight the history of women’s roles in film. The event will include an art installation of Nell Dorr’s photography and a panel discussion with industry leaders

The series will continue through Summer 2026 with Ramona and Beezus, written by Nick Pustay, who will join audiences for a discussion about writing for film and Hollywood storytelling.

Finally, the program will conclude in September 2026 with a silent film showcase of Broken Blossoms, starring Massillon-native Lillian Gish, accompanied by a live performance on the Palace Theatre’s historic Kilgen Organ and featuring a panel discussion with resident organist Jay Spencer and other historic theatre experts.

Stark on Screen is a film series presented by the Canton Palace Theatre in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Stark on Screen celebrates the directors, actors and stories that put Stark County in the spotlight, connecting our local heritage to the broader narrative of American film. Through a dynamic series of screenings, panels and community events, audiences from across the region are invited to explore how the people and places of Stark County have shaped the magic of the movies.

Each event offers more than just a film – it’s a full experience! Enjoy exclusive pre- and post-show programming like filmmaker Q&As, expert panels and immersive art installations that bring the stories to life and highlight the vibrancy of our creative community.

In collaboration with the Massillon Museum, the Greater Cleveland Film Commission and local filmmakers and educators, Stark on Screen blends art, history, and storytelling creating a one-of-a-kind celebration of cinema and community right here in Stark County.
