Canton Palace Theatre and Massillon Museum Collaborate to Host Special Event Featuring Actress Carrie Coon

Canton, OH – August 21, 2024 – The Canton Palace Theatre and the Massillon Museum are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration that will bring award-winning actress, Northeast Ohio native and University of Mount Union alumni, Carrie Coon to Canton for an exclusive event, as part of the Gilding Northeast Ohio: Fashion and Fortune 1870–1900 exhibit. On September 8, 2024, at 1pm, fans and enthusiasts alike are invited to a special live viewing of an episode from her critically acclaimed HBO series, The Gilded Age, followed by a Q&A session with the celebrated actress and the lead Costumer, Kasia Walicka-Maimone, moderated by the Massillon Museum’s Gilding Northeast Ohio: Fashion and Fortune 1870-1900 guest curator, Brian Centrone.

This unique event will take place at the historic Canton Palace Theatre, offering attendees a rare opportunity to engage directly with Coon, who is known for her versatile performances in film, television, and theater. The afternoon will begin with a screening of a featured episode from The Gilded Age, a series that has captivated audiences with its portrayal of late 19th-century American society. Carrie Coon, who stars in the show as Bertha Russell, will then take the stage for an insightful Q&A session, moderated by Brian Centrone, guest curator of the exhibit.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Massillon Museum to host Carrie Coon, a talent who has brought so much depth to her roles in The Gilded Age and beyond,” said Georgia Paxos, Canton Palace Theatre Executive. “This event will not only celebrate her achievements but also provide our community with an enriching cultural experience.”

The collaboration with the Massillon Museum underscores both institutions’ commitment to bringing high-quality arts and cultural programming to the region. The event is expected to draw attendees from all across Northeast Ohio and beyond, further cementing the Canton Palace Theatre and the Massillon Museum as leading cultural destinations.
