The Canton Concert Band is proud to open its 2024 summer concert season with a performance at the Canton Palace Theatre! The Canton Concert Band is Stark County’s only professional concert band, with a rich history dating back to the post-Civil War era. The ensemble consists of 52 members, including professional musicians, music educators, community members, and a select group of exceptional high school and college students.

Our June 5^th program features a diverse selection of music sure to please all audiences. In addition to lively marches, the band will perform works by Henry Mancini, Ray Charles, and a composition written and conducted by local composer and Music Director of the Player’s Guild of Canton, Steve Parsons. But that’s not all! Soloist Joan Wenzel will tickle the keys with Leroy Anderson’s “The Typewriter,” the band will have you dancing in the aisles with “Jitterbug!,” and we’ll even take you back to Saturday morning cartoons with “Animation (Episode 1: Wabbit!).

The performance is on June 5^th at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free (donations accepted). We hope you’ll join the Canton Concert Band for an evening of wonderful music!
